Religious Holiday Icon's
This mod is known to be compatible with the November 2018 patch. (Watch below for known conflicts)

Have you ever been irritated that you could not get a proper religious Icon on your Holiday. You can now with this mod.

The intention with this mod is to provide religious Icons for the in game Sims calendar that came with the Seasons expansion pack.
35 different religious traditions is represented. Some with more than one symbol. Obviously there is more than 35 religions in the world so if your tradition is not here or I have missed a symbol, please feel free to wright your suggestion in the comment section. I will then include it in an update of this mod.
I am not an expert on all 35 religions, so if I have made a mistake you are also welcome to write it in the comment section.

With 35 different religious traditions there is plenty of stuff to start a religious war so please don't start it and don't write any bigoted comments about any religion. That is not what this mod is about.

This mod contain the following symbols:

Mari Religion (Last pagans of Europe)
Maya religion (Centran America)
Akan African religion
Ifa (Yoruba)
Native Peoples religion
Fawhar (Zarathustrism)
Yazidi religion
Om (Hinduism)
Lotus flower (Hinduism)
Swastika (Hinduism)
Mudra (Jain religion)
Dharma Wheel (Buddhism)
Khanda (Sikhism)
Torii gate (Shinto)
YinYan (Daoism
Konfuzianism
Judaism
Mandaeanism (John The babtist)
Cross (Christianity)
Catholic Cross (christian)
Orthodox Cross (christian)
Eid symbol (Islam)
Cresent moon (Islam)
Allah (Islam)
Sufism (Islam)
Druze religion
Triskel (Multi religious)
Eye Of Providence (Multireligious)
Pentagram (Whitchcraft/paganism
Vodun religion
Anankh Egyptian paganism
Hellenic paganism
Celtic Paganism
Rodzimie Viara (Poland)
Rumova (Lithuanian paganism)
Armenian Native Faith
Dievturi Latvian paganism
Valknut (Norse paganism)
Mjolnir (Norse paganism)
Slavic paganism
Tenrikyo (Japanese religion
Wicca symbol
Bahai symbol
Unitarian Church
Scientology
Satanism
Atheism
MayDay (Communism)

I Did wonder If I should add Satanism and Atheism but I ended up doing so any way because someone might have made an issue out of it. I am not going to add the church of the flying Spaghetti monster for that simple reason that it is invented as an Atheist mockery of religion. That is basically why I added the Atheist symbol. So use that instead or maybe to celebrate Christopher Hitchens birthday or something.
Finally I also included the hammer and sickle. I will not say that communism is a religion, but my reason for adding it is if someone wants to celebrate the 1. of may. A popular holiday in large parts of the world.

Known conflicts
My mod is an override mod because using an override file is the only way I know to get extra Holiday Icons into the game. My mod does not override EA's Holiday Icons because I also reference them. However any mod that adds new Holiday Icons to the game will conflict with my mod. Even if they are only referencing Icons that is all ready in the game. My mod will conflict with anything that uses the files named "holidays.holiday_definition.HolidayDefinition" "holidays.holiday_definition" with the following resource ID: "FD72BAB73485CDFD" and "0C39BF0D079C8CEF"

NB! I have discovered that this mod does not work if you have Basemental-Drugs-1.9.0.72 installed. For some reason the dude who made that mod decided to include LittleMsSam's list of in game icons that is not compatible with this mod to his own mod.

There is two versions of my mod

If you only want my Religious Holiday Icon's mod in your game in addition to EA's Icons, then you should use:

ReligiousSims_ReligiousHolydayIcons.zip

If you are using a mod from an other content creator that has made their mod compatible with mine you will need the other file:

ReligiousSims_ReligiousHolydayIcons_CompatabilityFix.zip

The only file in there you need is ReligiousSims_ReligiousHolydayIcons_CompatabilityFix.package if all you need is my mod plus an other content creator's compatible mod. This file does not work on its own without a compatible mod file. If you don't have such a file you need to download ReligiousSims_ReligiousHolydayIcons.zip

If you want to make your own compatible mod or a limited version of my mod then there is a tutorial in the zip-file that will tell you what to do.

!Only use one of them!

Default Update
I have now uploaded a version of my Religious Holiday Icon's Mod to use together with other Holiday Icon's Mod's that has been made compatible with mine.

There is also a tutorial in it if you want to make a Holiday Icon's Mod compatible with mine or if you want to make a limited version with a subset of Icons from my mod.

This version of my mod does not work on its own. It needs an additional file that has been made compatible in order to work. So don't use it if you do not have such an additional file. Use the original version instead.

Since this is the Sims, I wouldn't mind seeing pretend religions - not necessarily in this mod, but maybe in another one compatible with this one. The Peterian religion and Paulian religion from the Sims Medieval come to mind. So does the icon of the Illuminati - perhaps related to "The Watcher". And I cannot say I am not disappointed that the Flying Spaghetti Monster was not included, even if it was originally made up as a mockery. Besides, I think the Discordians may have adopted the Flying Spaghetti Monster. And yes, there is a real Discordian religion - it is an offshoot of paganism. Star Trek and Star Wars....almost meet the status of a religion in some circles, and certainly would make great holidays (Holodeck Day, Red Shirt Memorial Day, Yoda Day, Chewbacca Day. .) Then there are all the holidays suggested by makers of greeting cards, clothing/houseware sales, etc.
But thank you for taking the first step in introducing more holiday icons. This way, there is a wider selection of appropriate icons for real holidays.

I think that we westerners has to learn to accept that we are not the whole world and our biases and opinions is not necessarily the best ones out there. There is 3 billion people in Asia for whom the swastika is sacred. The west is minuscule in comparison.
Personally I have a bigger problem with the Star of David because of what the Zionists is doing to the Palestinians, but I think we have to stop here before the political discussion get out of hand.

Excuse me, but not all Jews support Zionism. That is very rude of you to say. You should not have a problem with a symbol of an entire religion because of a group of extremists.

I have absolutely no beef with Norman Finkelstein or any other non-Zionist follower of the Judaic faith. My problem with the symbol is that the Zionists hijacked the star of David for their nationalistic project.
But again Mod The Sims is about making mods for the Sims. Not discussing politics.

There are a couple symbols of real religions that I notice are not present - these are not old religions, but they are still valid religions. Wicca uses the upright pentacle as its religious symbol, as do many pagans, and Universalist Unitarianism uses a chalice as its religious symbol. Satanism by the way does not use an upright pentacle...it uses an inverted pentacle with a goat's head replacing the star.

Not going to lie, I got pretty excited when I saw the pentagram. I'm Wiccan, and it's surprisingly hard to find wicca stuff for the sims (Or I'm just really bad at looking lol). Thanks so much <3

Will these pop up as religions for my sims to celebrate automatically or will I have to create them? I haven't really played the Sims since I have had some troubles with my mods that I have just now sorted out so I haven't even been able to play the new expansions. I am not very religious myself but religion has always interested me and I would love for my Sims to participate but it would be a little hard if I had to create them myself since I don't a lot about all the religions you have listed.

You will still need to create the holiday celebrations from the traditions available in your game. This mod offers you the possibility to put an Icon on your holiday that represents a real life religion.
This is not a script mod and you would probably need a script mod in order to to insert custom holiday celebrations.

I really like this mod, but is it possible you could make a version so we can pick an choose which icons we put in? I only want the pagan symbols, since I don't want to clutter up the icon box.

Thanks for liking my mod. It is a joy to be of service to the community.

In the file ReligiousSims_ReligiousHolydayIcons_CompatabilityFix.zip there is a tutorial for if you want to make a limited version of my mod. It would be to complicated if I should make different versions for every combination of the icons.
I might make it into a script mod with a customizable configuration file one day, but I am not promising anything.

Apart from that, the "pagan" religions of old was not so very different from the Abrahamic religions. The Abrahamic religions might think so and many modern neo-pagans would also very much like to think so, but in fact the Abrahamic religions has borrowed a lot of their features, including reward and punishment after death, from the "pagan" religions of antiquity. Most of all from Hellenism. The most noticeable difference is that the "pagan" religions of antiquity was inclusive of other traditions and translated gods and deities between them. Also the distinction between monotheism and polytheism is an Abrahamic distiction. The "pagan" religions had a wide span of interpretation that made this distinction irrelevant. So I don't think that any of the religious symbols in my mod is "clutter".

It does work with the latest November 2018 Patch. However I have discovered that it does not work if you have Basemental-Drugs-1.9.0.72 installed. For some reason the dude who made that mod decided to include LittleMsSam's list of in game icons to his own mod.

I am afraid so. What I have done in my own game is that I have opened Basementals package file ("Basemental Drugs.package") in S4PE and deleted the resource files with the following resource ID: "FD72BAB73485CDFD" and "0C39BF0D079C8CEF" and saved the packages back to my Mods folder (You can not do that in S4studio. You will have to use S4PE) and then the Religious Holiday Icon's mod will work along side Basemental-Drugs-1.9.0.72. Only downside is that you will not have Basementals Marijuana leaf as a holiday Icon. To fix that in my own game I added a Marijuana leaf of my own with Basementals resource ID:"41FEFE9ED2563B85" to "the Religious Holiday Icon's" package file. I don't know if he uses that resource ID for anything other than adding it as a holiday Icon.

But of cause you can also contact Basemental him self and politely ask if he would like to make his mod compatible with mine.

I think though that the long time solution would be a script mod that adds to the games list of Holiday Icon's in run-time. I am considering that but I will have to get the time to get around to do it.

The Orthodox cross does often include that design (as shown here) within the cross, but just that design alone, seems to me, to predominately be a Russian thing. When you look up Byzantine, Greek, Serbian and Bulgarian churches and compare them with Russian, you can see that many Russian ones, yet not all, stand out from the rest in the design of the cross on the top. But I'd say that the most common and standard Orthodox cross is the one with curvatures (I think in Serbia it is exclusively that).

Personally, I am Catholic and have never heard any cross referred to as Catholic besides a Crucifix, so I found this odd as well. Also what are the chances of something more like a crucifix being added?

I love seeing this kind of cultural representation available for Sims. As a Pagan myself, I can hardly ever find cc that has anything to do with my faith. Thank you for including so many different options for icons.
